Janna Joceli Omena is a teaching fellow at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Methodologies (CIM), University of Warwick, England. Before joining CIM, she held positions at NOVA University Lisbon, King’s College London and the Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS). Omena is also a member of the Public Data Lab and a founding member of iNOVA Media Lab, where she founded and led an event devoted to conducting empirical research with digital methods, the #SMARTDataSprint. Her research focuses on the theory and practice of digital methods. She investigates the role of the technicity of computational mediums in digital research from conceptual, technical and empirical perspectives. Her work contributes to the methodological innovation of social and media research. Omena’s research interests include the creation and interpretation of (computer vision) digital networks, bot agency on social media, hashtag engagement studies and the visual analysis of meme collections. Ana Marta M. Flores holds a doctorate and a master’s degree in journalism from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil) with a partial completion at the University of Lisbon (Portugal) and is graduated in Social Communication & Journalism. Currently, investigates how trends studies and digital methods can contribute to a better understanding of innovation in Journalism. Flores is also a member of the Center for Studies and Production in Hypermedia Applied to Journalism (Nephi-Jor), and a researcher at Social Media Research Techniques at iNOVA Media Lab. Since 2014 she has been teaching in postgraduate courses in Brazil and Portugal with a focus on digital media.

Rita Sepúlveda is a doctoral researcher in Communication Science (ISCTE-IUL) whose work focuses on the transformation of intimacy in the context of online dating platforms appropriation. She is a researcher at CIES-IUL collaborating with MediaLab_ISCTE on projects in the scope of misinformation and part of SMART (Social Media Research Techniques) team. She developed a particular interest in methodologies, namely digital methods, to study collective and dynamic expressions in digital space.
Jason Chao is a technologist and human rights activist. Chao is currently a PhD student and researcher at the University of Siegen. His research interests include digital methods and app studies. He received an MSc in Big Data and Digital Futures from the University of Warwick and an MA in Human Rights Law from SOAS, University of London.
Elias Bitencourt is an assistant professor in the department of Design, Universidade do Estado da Bahia – UNEB, Brazil.
